AI Bytes Terra

AI Bytes Terra explores the material and environmental consequences of artificial intelligence. It presents AI not as an immaterial or purely digital technology, but as a system connected to energy consumption, water use, mineral extraction, computation, and environmental waste.

None of that expense is abstract. Producing an answer draws on power stations, cooling water, land, server halls, and the mines that supply the hardware — none of which appear anywhere near the text box you typed into. Every reply here is generated live, and the forest is what settles the bill.
